First Ride: Öhlins' New Cross-Country Suspension

I'm afraid I haven't ridden the RXF34, so can't say for sure from real world useage. But with all the changes they made to the air spring and damper, it could be that the RXC34 is more supple than the RXF34. It was developed to have great suppleness when there's not so much load on the front wheel, like when you're climbing sat down, and that was certainly one of the impressive things about the RXC34 from riding it.

Price is $1390 US or €1495 for the aluminium version of the fork. It’s fixed in the box now. Thanks for spotting.

Hi Could you, as an engineer, give a quick answer(if there is one)on the affect a high seat-post has on stress at the top tube/seat tube junction? I'm looking for a new bike, read your seat tube angle article and wondered, with seat tubes getting shorter, does an overly long seat-post stress the frame more? Thanks

@winko: Anti-squat is a mix of pivot placement and how the chain force interacts with the system, it's not just the chain force. Using pivot placement to make the suspension extend with chain force is something that can be applied to any other suspension system. While there is some good information in that video, there's also a massive amount of marketing and unexplained grand claims.

What's Going On With Commencal's Prototype DH Race Bike?

@Primoz I spent quite a bit of time looking at the six-bar systems with this layout. There’s 2 instant centres that need to be found before you can determine the one for the seat stay frame part relative to the mainframe. There’s a method using a plotted hexagon to determine which ICs are related via the Arnold-Kennedy theorem, along with which ICs you have already and which you need to find.
