Sometimes these things look much worse than they are... case in point... a few years ago was riding the Whistler Bike Park, totally f'ed up a take-up on a jump, ending up sending it straight into the ditch beside the trail. When I landed my bike just stopped, I was launched like a rocket OTB. I remember flying through the air superman style and looking at where I was going to land and seeing this huge rock... I watched the rock until it impacted straight to the face area of my full-face helmet (it's always weird when you get that mid crash slow motion effect...). But, I popped right up and was totally fine, not a scratch on me... I was actually laughing at the ridiculously-ness of the whole thing as my buddies rolled up beside me. It looked like they were more mentally injured by watching my crash than I was physically. Rode the rest of day without an issue and had a great day. Did have to toss that helmet though.
But ya, this did look pretty gnar... not sure how they get these videos but I'd assume whoever submitted it (if that's how it works?) Only would have done so if the guy was somewhat ok.
That caught my eye too, hope he's ok! I watch these videos to sober up from time to time, crashes happen and a tinge of fear isn't bad to keep things less dangerous.
@aelazenby: I was with him think this was in 2012. Concussion n broken nose super gnarly wreck. We had to walk him off trails he was pretty loopy and out of it. He sold that clip for a few hundred.
This is a guy named Colin...he was injured but lived to ride again. this trail is very tech and new at the time ...and that was too fast. This happened probably 6 years ago... in Colorado
Atter watching this it feels like it's a sport full of idiots who build janky jumps. No wonder the average person thinks mountain bikers are crazy, we are.
Rock to the face was savage....hard to watch a lot of those. Pinkbike maybe do another how to series on suspension setup...particularly rebound...or not hahahah!!!
Normally I laugh a bit when I watch these, like when we use to do stupid flips on the beach and fall on our backs, but this week was real cringeworthy. Makes me feel older and all parental. Wish I was 14 again. It hurt a lot less back then. Take care out there kids.
All my major crashes(DH bike at DH speeds)...I've managed to bust a lip and/or get a good gash in my chin...with a fullface, strapped properly. Trail bikes these days are so capable and guys are ripping pretty fast..with feather weight XC lids...tempting fate. Sketch.
Can somebody tell me what the hell happened in the second 13? I mean I've seen many accidents caused by too fast rebound (+lack of skill) but this is special. Like a freakin catapult.
In youtube you can use K to pause the video and , () and . (> for previous and next frame. She sat on the rear wheel, ripping her pant open while being sucked under provoking a massive break.

Rock-2-face-guy was gnarly.
